Passion and Precision
Paul Zewell is a drummer and percussionist based in Austria who shares his passion for music with his audience and students as a full-time musician and teacher. He enjoys playing a diverse assortment of styles, including singer/songwriter acoustic pop, grunge, pop, punk, rock’n’roll, hip-hop, and more. He is acclaimed for his musical sensibility, enthusiastic working attitude, and creative sound ideas.
A Drum-aficionado
A big drum-aficionado from day one, Paul has spent a whole lot of time practicing, playing, beating, tuning, and tweaking drums. He was born in Austria, where he began working on his craft at the age of 12. In 2005, Paul went on to study classical percussion and jazz at the prestigious conservatory in Klagenfurt with Guenther Hofbauer, Gerhard Kattnig and Erich Bachtraegl. He later completed a Masters of Arts degree with distinction from the Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt in Applied Musicology. In 2012, Paul decided to continue his studies at LA Collage of Music (formerly known as LAMA) under teachers like Ralph Humphrey, Aaron Serfaty, Matt Starr, Tony Inzalaco, and more. Paul graduated from LACM in 2013. Furthermore he attended workshops and master classes by the likes of Benny Greb, Jojo Mayer, Dave Weckl, and more.
Tremendous experience
Paul has tremendous experience in both live and studio situations. Throughout his career, he has toured extensively throughout Europe and North America. He has played with the The George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, Studio Vocal Carinthia, and the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra. He has also worked professionally with Grammy-winning producer Robert Carranza and producer/vocalist Kacee Clanton (Luis Miguel) in Los Angeles.
